Easy Shot Memory

Flying in formation about 5,000 to 6,000 feet up. The ground looks small below and there are a few puffs of low level clouds to buzz through. The air is fresh and moist. It rained earlier. I see enemy planes below about 3,000 to 2,000 feet. I turn down to the right and the others follow. I am flying with four other gentlemen. There is green and yellow patched farmland below. I'm keen for the fight and we can sneak up on the enemy planes. They are a yellowish tan color. We have turned about 180 degrees from the original direction that we were going. We are in classic up and above position and I'm calculating the right moment to attack. We are getting closer. I can see both occupants in the plane, but they have not yet noticed us.

I'm in perfect position. It's almost too easy. I shoot and clearly hit the observer for he slumps to the side in the cockpit. I look up to make sure that these planes are not bait. I see no one. The pilot dives and I follow. My fellow pilots go after the other two planes. The enemy pilot goes into a steep dive to shake me off.
