Karl Allmeröder Impressions

So how is my very serious young friend? ...I think that every time I read one of Karl Allmenröder's memories. I have this impression of a somewhat serious young man that worked so hard to do what was right and what was expected of him. I can see him laugh with the others, but I also see the intense look upon his face when the discussion would turn to something serious like aviation flight tactics or details concerning a flight mission. I have a strong impression of standing outside on an overcast day. We are standing in a circle, perhaps around a table...and we are all wearing coats because the air is damp and cool, but not so cold that Karl is standing there without a cap on. Perhaps he has just completed a flight mission or that he is about to go up and have left his cap in his room. I also see Karl always with his hair neatly combed. I get a strong impression that he always looked neat and clean. He wore his uniform well and gave it the dignity that it deserved. (Not everyone looked good in uniform)
