"It's a Long Way to Tipperary"
It is a quiet evening on the western front. I'm sitting in the trenches smoking a cigarette. We hear something strange coming from the enemy trenches. It sounds like they are singing!!! More and more join in and we can make out the words. "It's a long way to Tipperary, It's a long way to go, It's a long way to Tipperary, to the sweetest girl I know....". (On a side note in this life I am familiar with this song and it reminds me of Canadain and British Inantry for some reason).
Someone yells, from our trenches, "We can't let the English sing without some competition!!!". We start to sing a German song, but I can't remember the words, I think I didn't know the words back then and just yelled a few words here and there that I picked up in the song. They start singing louder and we hear some violins and bagpipes and I think a flute join in along with many other instruments.
This makes us sing louder and we start improvising instruments. I think someone brings out an accordian of sorts, but it is a very small accordian. It seems that the whole front is full of soldiers singing the songs of their homeland. Everyone starts to laugh and I look over the trench and I can see the English waving at us and sort of saluting. I wave back.
