Pic-nic by the River

I believe this event took place before the other memory of "the girl by the river".

We are sitting on a blanket eating bread and butter with some sausage along with some white German wine.

We are laying side by side watching the ducks swim down the river. We talk about things that are of little importance and every time she asks about the front and the war, I quickly change the topic. She understands that I do not like to talk about it, but she feels that I need to talk about it.

I look at her feet and she is wearing black leather boots with tiny buttons at the end and I'm amazed at how fragile her feet look. i notice the white lace at the end of her dress which is yellow. I also can see a similar instance of her wearing a baby blue dress without the white lace at the end. It's possible that it was a common activity for us to go on pic-nics.
