Church Memory

Thinking about the forest from the previous memory led me to this one......................

In winter we would hunt each other and throw snowballs at each other. I have flashes of being rolled around in the snow. I am lying on my back and struggling with someone. They are breathing hard and I can see their teeth and their reddened face from the cold. The person is sitting on top of me and wants to rub snow into my face. He breaths hard and I can see his breath in the cold air. I squint my eyes closed as snow is thrust into my face. I hate it and want to get away. My face is all wet and cold. I feel very annoyed.

My arms were trapped momentarily and now I can move them again. I am angry. The sky is grey but my mood is hot and I am able to push him off of me and knock him on his back. I can see better where we are at. We are on a small hillside that over looks a house then a road, and another hill across the road . The hill across the road is covered with tall trees.

I think it may be lightly snowing. The other boy seems to be wearing a knitted woolen cap. I just want to jump on top of him and knock the snot out of him. He is yelling or crying out. I think he wants me to stop. I am not sure I'm yet ready to stop. I want to give him back some of his own medicine. I take a wod of snow and rub it across his red tear streaked face and do so to the point where I knock his cap off his head as he is lying beneath me. His hair is very blonde.

I can hear him say my name "Manfred" and something else. I finally have enough of him and simply get up and walk over to one of the trees and lean against it. I can smell smoke in the air like that from a fireplace. I'm tired, cold, and angry. He has thick blonde hair and is heavier than I. He sits up and tries to fix his cap an coat. He appears to be whimpering.
