Memory in my parent's house on leave
"It is early morning-I'm used to getting up early now. I'm in my parent's house on leave.
It must be Easter of 1917. Everyone is sleeping. It is just after dawn and I don't want to wake anyone.
Luisa's is sleeping down the hall and so are my parents. I am most concerned about waking Luisa (I believe she's pregnant).
I go across the hallway to the sitting room. This is my favorite room in the house.
This is a long room with a piano, comfortable chairs and a fireplace on the far wall (not lit).
Sunlight fills the room through two glass doors. There are lace curtains at them.
It is a beautiful crisp, clear spring morning. My mind is alert with the joy of being home and the peace of the room.
I sit at the piano for the longest time. Then, as I've done so many times before, I start to softly play (Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata)."
