Memories of Konstantin Krefft

"Konstantin was my friend.  I was fascinated by the intricacies of our powerful new planes and he was very knowledgeable.  I admired his technical expertise.  He was our "gadget" man.  He was the liaison between the pilots and the mechanics.  He loved figuring out how everything worked.  We would go to him with questions about the planes and equipment.  We would hang out together in the hangars and play pranks on the other pilots.  He had a lively sense of humor.  I guess I was the follower.  We had the best time though.  I can still feel the bond between us. I was one of the youngest pilots- but he still took me seriously.
