Memories of Time spent with Henry

I think it occurs in summer or fall.

I walk into the room carrying a tray with what appears to be a type of meat pie on it that I just baked.  I think there are three pies, each with a different meat in it.

I walk in to the music room, and greet everyone and ask the King if he is ready to eat.  a lady younger than me who had long dark hair exits without even looking at me, and sort of bumps me as if on purpose to try to break the pies.

I set the tray down sort of on the floor in from of a fireplace that has no fire.  Elisabeth gathers pillows and such so we can sit comfortably on the floor.

Henry sits down and lets out an "aww" and asks what do we have here.

I point to the first pie and tell him that is a fowl, the next is beef, and the third is mutton.  HE laughs and asks what we will be eating, and we all laugh.

Henry takes a knife and cuts out a slice for himself and pulls it out with his hands.  Now to modern people it may seem odd that we are eating without plates or proper utensils, but it seem normal in the memory.

The pies are slightly warm just a bit warmer than room temperature I suppose, and the gravy and stuff inside is sort of jellied so it stays together.  There is a little mess but we do not worry.

The king calls for wine and bread, which we receive very quickly.   We finish off the pies, well Henry finishes them.   We pull apart the bread and use it to wipe our hands.   We toss the bread into a bucket in the hallway along with the tray with the pie plates and knives.

Henry gallantly pours the wine which is burgundy in colour, and tastes very sweet.

Henry tells jokes and stories of his youth full of adventure.   There is much laughter and I can see how well they are getting along.

He thanks me for the pies and tells me that I am his favourite ex-wife.

a minstrel is called in so we can listen to some music. as the food digests.  the young man is playing the Lyre and the song is very familiar in this life too, just don't know the name.

Another Time

I had another Anna memory last night that I think you will enjoy.

last night I was playing the old folk song "Scarborough Fair", as I finally mastered it on my electric guitar, but for some reason lately I've been playing it more like a classical guitar, as it makes more sense to me, and it was unplugged as it is too much of a hassle to pull out the amp to play for a few minutes, plus I like to hear the strings ring.

anyway I got the following vision.

I am in a castle and the fire is warm.   Out the window snow is falling.   There is music in the room and it is very intimate.   The King is playing the Lute, and I think Elisabeth is playing the recorder, while I have the tambourine.   Elisabeth looks like she is a young lady perhaps late teens early twenties.

There was someone else there, perhaps the current queen at the time, or perhaps Mary, but she left, as I feel she did not like someone in the room, possibly me.

We take a bit of a break to decide which song to play next.    I can see a harp by the fire which Elisabeth sits at, while Henry hands me very politely the lute as he takes out a recorder.

We play a song that sounds very similar to Scarborough fair, and I can hear the recorder being played quite lively by Henry as the harp gives a sweet sound that the snowflakes sort of dances to.

My lute playing is less than average at best and I miss a few notes.   Henry laughs and gives me a few tips on playing the songs and we start up again.

I can see how the women flock to the king and how kind and loving he can be when his demons are at bay.   If only he could show this side of him all of the time.
