Another Library Memory

I'm sitting close to Margret.  I can see the fire burning in the fireplace in the library/sitting room.  We are sitting on the floor in front of it.  We are obviously the only ones in the room and have the privacy to look lovingly into each others eyes. The fire is snapping and crackling loudly otherwise all else is quiet.  I think something sparked and snapped extra loud and surprised us both to jump and feel rather foolish. We both laugh at how silly it made us look and feel.  We decided to move back away to avoid any more errant sparks.

We then sat side by side close to each other and watched the flames.  I put my arm around Margret and she put her head on my shoulder.  It feels so nice to be there.  I feel happy.  It's getting late and we are both tired and sleepy. I think Margret falls asleep in my arms.  I'm near to falling asleep myself and wonder what to do. I don't want to wake her or let her go.  Unfortunately, we are on the floor and if I fall asleep, I'll fall over. I sense that someone has come into the room.  It could be Werner or Herr Voss.

I tell him in a whisper that she has fallen asleep. I think I try and pick her up and he says that he will take care of the fire. At some point while going upstairs, she starts to wake and when we are at her bedroom door, she awakens. I set her down on her feet as she continues to hold onto me. I kiss her and want to follow her into her room. Then we hear him come up the stairs, so wisely we part company. I walk to my room and see him reach the top of the stairs and say goodnight. I remember closing the door and feeling restless and alone. I wanted to be with her. I had a very difficult time falling asleep that night. My head was swimming with all kinds of thoughts.
