Walking with Mom Memory

Walking outside. It appears to be Fall and we are walking along a narrow path or road. I am with a woman. I think she is my mother. We are in earnest discussion and I walk with my hands clasped behind my back. I'm not in a uniform, but it is during my later years of life. It is nice enough to be wearing a sweater or light coat. I'm wearing something like a blazer which is open because I have pushed back the sides to put my hands into my pants pockets. She is wearing either a dark colored dress or a blouse and skirt that are dark. She seems to be worried about something.

She is telling me about all the stuff that's been going on while I was gone. That stuff I consider to be gossip, of course which is irrelavent, but I listen anyway. I get the impression that she hears stories about Lothar and myself and some annoy her. I think she is telling me this stuff so that she can hear me say that it is not true and she can ignore it all. We stop walking and look up at the distance. We have been walking down a familiar narrow dirt road that is lined with tall trees and snakes through some hills and meadows. There is a building not far from us, which I think is part of a farm.

It could be a white barn. For some reason she wants to turn around. I think she just wanted some time to talk with me alone. Her mood lightens up as she points out something that I'm wearing has a hole in it. I'm not too concerned since it's been there for awhile and just about all of my stuff has been ruined since the war. I tell her that I'll need to buy a new wardrobe after the war is over. She seems to be suddenly in a better mood. Obviously something that we had talked about had been bothering her. As to what exactly, I am not sure. This memory is not very clear.
