Lady in Blue and White

A woman with light reddish brown hair. She is wearing a white hat and a dress with a white lace top area and a pastel blue skirting that seemed to hang straight down. The dress looked very fashionable along with her hat. She is very much a lady. We are sitting outside at a table under an umbrella. The table is located in front of a cafe. We are close to the street.

I think her eyes are dark blue. She is very attractive. It appears to be about 12 or 1 in the afternoon. The street we are sitting next to is very busy. Cars and carriages and people are walking by. It is a clear sunny day. The temperature is comfortable. There is a large building across the street. I think it looks like a church. A small cathedral style.

This woman has a pleasant smile and seems to hang on my every word. It is as if I like her and I am trying to decide how much I like her. She doesn't make my head spin or my heart pound, but her company is very pleasant. I believe she is wearing a small pearl necklace that hangs around her throat, except that it rests atop of her lacy dress top. (I have attempted to draw what she was wearing, but I have not come close to capturing the beauty of her face. Nor her charming smile.)

I am amazed at how busy it is and how this place seems so untouched by the misery of the war. Being here at this table with this lady I feel as if the war is some kind of distant nightmare. It seems so far away. She catches me starring of into space and calls me by name, "Manfred." I can hear her voice over the noise of the street even though she is not speaking very loudly. I turn back to her and smile.

She says, "Manfred, are you alright?" I tell her that I am fine. I am just a bit tired, hungry, and am amazed at how busy this city is. I keep thinking that this is in Bayern. I think I see the blue and white diamond pattern heraldry. She says something else and eyes me as she sips some coffee or maybe it is tea. There are white gloves sitting on the table not far from the saucer. Her voice is a little like the actress Billy Burke?

The waiter comes and sets down some plates of food for us. I am hungry. I think we are eating sauerkraut and potatoes with some kind of wurst. It is just us and I feel so relaxed. She is a very charming woman. I am in uniform. My hat is resting on the table to my left. There are other people sitting at these tables eating lunch. It seems to be a very popular place. The food is good. I wonder what we will do after lunch. For some reason this memory makes me feel terribly guilty. I am not sure why. I wonder if it happens after I started my relationship with Margret Voss or maybe I broke this woman's heart.
