Un-named Boys in Un-marked Graves

Youve heard the work of Sassoon, Owen
Officers. But we fought too.
Were the men no history book talks of
Endured such lives as only we knew

Were not learn-ed, our words not elegant
Just rank and file who won the day
We followed orders, go where told,
But we still should get our say

Generations of no credit:
Wellington, Wade our victories gain
But who put the toil and shot in?
Got the wounds, and took the pain?

Histry always near o-erlooked us;
Our deeds and suffring it declines
Yet were the ones who had no choices;
Were the ones that manned the line

 We too had mates that well not see gain,
Got injuries that never heal
And, not rich, not influential
weve not cash, our tale to seal

Remember us, for Peace, not glory;
Each lesson learnt, a life can save.
And recall, with friends and enemies
Un-named boys in un-marked graves
